Kingdoms of Cards - Poem

Two kings on thrones of
iron and gold
married to queens
Dressed in black and red.
Two kingdoms of cards, paper and stone:

On the gilded throne,
I sit,
the red-haired king married
to a queen
Dressed in black.

I hold the hearts
of a People
without number,
digging up dirt with brand new spades,
dancing the night away
in one-shot clubs, getting lucky,
I am the king on the gilded throne.

I count the coins in my coffers daily,
copper, silver, gold.
jewels fill my treasury,
rubies, sapphires, emeralds,
Betting against the day I go to war.

The men and women
must pair up
and bring in fresh fish,
twos, threes and fours at a time
for the day famine feasts.

Two kings on thrones of
iron and gold
married to queens
Dressed in black and red.
Two kingdoms of cards, paper and stone.

I am the king on the iron throne,
black-haired and married
to a queen
Dressed in red.

I hold the hearts
of a people
dwindling by the day.
disease digs their graves
with spades of spots
and clubs smash their unlucky bodies
Into clay.
I am the king on the iron throne.

My purse is my wrath; I count it daily,
pride, jealousy, revenge.
weapons fill my armory,
swords, bows, axes,
Gambling for my war that never comes.

The women and men
must pair up
and carry young flesh,
two, three, four at a time,
to live that they might die.

Two kings on thrones of
iron and gold
married to queens
Dressed in black and red.
Two kingdoms of cards, paper and stone.
